AFTERCARE ADVICE
Day one:
The best results will be achieved if full compliance and care is taken when following aftercare advice.
·Please remember that the colour is up to 50% darker immediately after the treatment. It will start to become lighter after 4-7 days. The true healed colour will not come through until approximately 3-4 weeks after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing layers of skin. Under no circumstances should you have any further permanent cosmetic work undertaken before your top up procedure between weeks 4 & 12.
·Ice packs protected with a clean cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce swelling
·There are only 3 times the area should get wet, wiped or cleaned during the healing process. The first will be the evening of your appointment; where you will dampen a cotton wool pad with cooled boiled water and thoroughly wipe the treated area. Change your cotton wool as much as necessary to ensure the blood and excess pigment is all cleaned away. You will then repeat this the morning after your treatment and the following evening. These are the only times you should clean your brows unless otherwise advised by Emily.
Daily aftercare routine:
·Always wash your hands before applying the balm provided to you as part of your aftercare. Apply the balm twice a day for the first 7 days only the smallest amount is required to gloss the area, you may also apply this balm after wiping the area too. The sachet provided should last both your initial and top up treatment. Over applying cream to the area can pull out pigment resulting in poor retention of pigment once healed. In some cases balm is not advised and this will be discussed before leaving your appointment. If you have an oily t zone I would always advise against applying balm during healing.
·Keep hair away from the area to prevent infection.
·If the area gets wet, gently pat dry using clean lint-free tissue. Do not rub the area.
Important “DO NOTS”
·Some itching is normal. Do not pick, peel or scratch the treated area. This may result in the colour healing unevenly and you could also risk scarring and infection. Allow the wound to flake on its own.
·Do not apply powder foundation and/or powders for 1 week after the treatment
·Do not wax or tint your brow area for 4 weeks after treatment. Avoid tint until both procedures have been completed to ensure clear visibility on top up.
·Do not expose the healing skin to extreme heat, cold or moisture for two weeks following your treatment. This can include direct sun, tanning beds, Jacuzzi’s, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, skin creams/ ointments (other than what you have been instructed to use) avoid any activities which may cause exercise sweating for the first week.
·Vaseline is recommended after 10 days if you wish to use chlorinated pools or Jacuzzis. You should not apply any other creams or ointments other than those recommended before the healing process has finished.

Between days 2 -5 you may experience:
·Tenderness.
·Flaking.
·Dry patches.
·Itchiness in the treated area.
· Swelling/redness.
If you are not feeling 100% healthy it may take longer for your treatment to heal and symptoms may appear more prominent.
·It is very common that during the healing process between day 7-21 that the pigment is sucked into the skin resulting in a patchy appearance. Clients have described this as their treatment almost ‘disappearing’ this is completely normal by days 21-28 the pigment is pushed back out. It is only at day 28 of the healing process you will see the real healed appearance.
·The healing process and aftercare is the same for both your initial and top up appointments. However dependent on how much work is needed during top up the healing may be less intense than the first time. If the aftercare is followed correctly top up's are usually minimal.
· Lip Blush healing time is often shorter all flaking is usually gone after a week. However all other aftercare will apply.
·Lip Blush visibly fades once flaking has gone and then gradually re-appears for several weeks after initial procedure.
All SPMU is a two part procedure and is not completed until after this time. It is your responsibility to ensure you book in a top up appointment and attend to achieve optimum results.
Long term care:
·In order to keep your permanent cosmetics in perfect condition it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure between 12-18 months, though this will vary for each individual.
Some prefer to have this sooner others wait longer. A colour boost procedure is always less than the initial treatment.
·To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a good sunscreen or moisturiser with SPF 50. A small application of a SPF 50 lip balm, is always recommended to protect all SPMU treatments whilst in the sun.
·Take care when using moisturisers and other skin products which contain Glycolic or fruity acids. These are known to fade permanent makeup.
·If you are planning an MRI scan, chemical peel or any other similar procedures please inform your practitioner that you have had permanent cosmetics.
·Please inform the National Blood Service if you donate blood, as you may not be eligible to blood for 4 months post procedure.
·If you are planning on having anti-ageing injectables or cosmetic surgery, remember these procedures can alter the shape of your eyebrows and we will not be held accountable for any change of shape after these procedures.
·Laser hair removal can fade and change the shade of your brow procedure. Always advise the laser technician you are wearing permanent cosmetics and they can act accordingly.
